Guild Wars and Guild Wars couple of fans, did you love the Ranger class? Were you disappointed that it had been all an elaborate joke? Did you like the idea ofdetonating bombs, flinging grenades, and placing mines in Guild Wars 2?
Very well, this is gonna bea good day for yourself, because ArenaNet has announced the 7th profession: the Engineer. While it’s not necessarily the Commando class per se, a Engineer is described as “a get good at of mechanical mayhem” and looks to generally be the class that will fulfill all of your current most explosive gameplay wishes.
Ready to measure it out in depth? We’ve got five skill videos suitable in a row and a rundown of the Engineer’s abilities, so follow along after the jump and let’s take a search!
Let’s start with the video, that shows five skills one after the other: Rifle Turret, Glue Shot, Jump Shot, Grenade Satchel, and Absorb. They look fantastic, but even more importantly they illustrate the versatility of the class. If you want to snare, defend, have the jump on a pack of naive foes, or simply deal a ton ofdamage, there’s something in the Engineer’s arsenal to do just this.
The Engineer looks to have much more cool — and deadly — toys than Batman and a skill set designed to produce the most of them. He can easily wield a rifle, dual pistols, or even a pistol/shield combination, but that simply skims the surfaceof his bag of tricks.
Lovers who have been following GW2 advancement will remember that player skills are partially dictated by the weapon the player is currently wielding. If you’re wielding a rifle, for example, you will have five rifle-based skills. Engineers are likely to take this a step further as a consequence of Backpack Kits: “When activated, these unique utility kits equip a backpack for the engineer’s back, which replaces the engineer’s current weapon skills with expertise from the backpack kit. For model, a bomb kit will put a bomb backpack on the engineer, allowing for [him] to deploy a variety of bombs including smoke, concussion, and flames.” There are five types of bookbag kits to suit your playstyle, which include a med kit for heals.
Suppose slinging bombs isn’t quite your thing? Fear not, because the Engineer’s rather versatile. Weapon Kits are another completely new element — they’re utility skills that equip a new weapon (and set of weapon skills) when activated. Flamethrower, anybody? That’s right, the Engineer can adjustable rate mortgage a flamethrower as a short-array AoE weapon, and it comes with a pretty impressive set of weapon skills. AoE-flee is less of a dilemma thanks to the Backdraft skill, which in turn sucks fleeing enemies back into selection. Air Blast is another handy skill, one that will deflect incoming ranged attacks.
Want to take more of any stationary or support role? Bring to the turrets! Turrets are exactly what you happen to be imagining: “a variety of immobile allied devices that will help defend along with control area.” Turrets are stationary, however make no mistake: They’re no a smaller amount useful. Turrets can damage, snare, and even heal depending on which type you use. There tend to be five kinds of turrets: Rifle, Thumper, Net, Flame, and Healing.
However wait, there’s more! When you deploy a turret, “the slot for this turret toggles into an overcharge ability. The Thumper Turret, for example, is often a turret that does AoE damage but sometimes be overcharged to do a huge thump attack that knocks down close by enemies.” Finally, turrets can be bundled up, moved, and re-deployed as a battle moves and progresses, so you are not left behind.
Since Engineers’ smarts never begin and end with machinery, elixirs are part of the class’ lineup. Engineers have a talent for alchemy and a command potions of that can heal, buff, and more. Even better, you could fire them into the battlefield as well as to your allies with a gun. What is considered not to love?
There’s a outrageous card involved here, though. Alchemy because of its nature can be a little unpredictable, therefore you’ll have to expect the unexpected: “Elixirs all have some haphazard component to them. For example, Philosopher’s stone X is an unstable formula anytime consumed gives the engineer a random Elite power by another profession.”
All in all, the Engineer sounds like an incredibly versatile and formidable class — arguably even more so than many we’ve seen for Guild Wars 3 previously. Want to see more? Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance. I must say you have done a fantastic job with this. In addition, the blog loads very fast for me on Safari. Exceptional Blog!
